The George Washington University's Black Heritage Celebrationthis year was built around the theme, "The Empire: We Were. We Are. We Will Be." This year's Soul Revue, a showcase featuring skits, modeling, acting and musical performances, was an occasion to build on that theme while having fun.

"It's a time lapse into everything the students felt encapsulates the Black community," Black Student Union president Kalah Neal said, "essentially drawing from the past to where African Americans are now and projecting into where we want to be in the future."
