Erie County announces schedule for Narcan use trainings in 2026

Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Virtual events during January, February and March will demonstrate how and when to use Narcan to reverse an opioid overdose

The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) has scheduled monthly Narcan trainings for 2026. These free, virtual classes teach participants how and when to use Narcan to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and the history of the opioid epidemic, while increasing participants' understanding of substance use and substance use disorder.

The first three dates are:

  • Tuesday, January 6, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 21, 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
  • Friday, March 13, 12-1 p.m.

Narcan (also called naloxone) is a life-saving medication, easily added to personal and household first-aid kits. All participants will receive a free Narcan kit by mail after the training is complete. Additional dates will be announced quarterly.

Information about Narcan trainings is available from erie.gov/narcan; log-in information will be emailed. Virtual training participants will need a computer with Internet access or a smart phone with the ability to access WebEx. For information on group training for your business, school or organization, call (716) 858-7695.
