Rep. John Highlights School Bus Safety Grant Funding for Local Districts

COLUMBUS - State Representative Marilyn John (R-Richland County) is pleased to announce that numerous local school districts in Richland County were recently awarded funding from the Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program-totaling more than $126,420.

As part of the state operating budget, the Legislature provided $10 million toward helping school districts offset the costs of upgrading their bus fleets with advanced safety equipment. Flexible guidelines allowed each school district to best utilize the funds to promote safety in their fleet.

The list of awardees in the 76th House District is the following:

  • Clear Fork Valley Local School District - $21,399
  • Crestview Local School District - $5,696
  • Lucas Local School District - $36,658
  • Madison Local School District - $24,743
  • Mansfield City School District - $16,318
  • Plymouth-Shiloh Local School District - $5,000
  • Shelby City School District - $11,181
  • St. Clairsville-Richland City School District - $5,426

Every school district that applied for assistance with eligible equipment received an award. Schools may use the funds to incorporate safety enhancements in new buses or add safety technology to buses currently in service.
