Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Collision
The motorcyclist fatally injured in Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. collision at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Summercrest Drive is identified as Brent Rager II, 18, of LaVergne.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Rager was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Murfreesboro Pike when the driver of an Infiniti SUV entered Murfreesboro Pike from Summercrest Drive. The driver of the Infiniti had a green light as he entered the intersection. Video evidence shows that the motorcyclist ran the red light and struck the Infiniti's driver's side door. Rager died on impact. The driver of the Infiniti sustained minor injuries.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene for either driver.
