DSU Virtual Teach Camp reaches new heights in 10th year

Almost 500 educators attended Dakota State University's College of Education & Human Performance's annual virtual Teach Camp on June 6.

"This year's event was our biggest yet," said Dr. David De Jong, dean of the College of Education & Human Performance.

Attendees took part in 15 engaging sessions on educational technology, instructional strategies, and more.

"From the inspiring keynote by a recent National Teacher of the Year to the wide range of session offerings and the flexible Zoom format, a record number of educators from across South Dakota came together for this year's camp," De Jong said. "Participants got to explore new AI tools, gather practical classroom strategies, and connect with passionate peers."

He stated this one-day camp, "was a powerful opportunity to support hundreds of educators and equip them with fresh ideas to bring into their classrooms this fall."

The 2025 DSU Teach Camp was supported by the Dakota State College of Education & Human Performance, Sanford Harmony, Sanford Inspire, and the South Dakota Paraprofessional Apprenticeship Pathway.

This is the 10^th year DSU offered the camp. In 2016, through an Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) grant, the College of Education & Human Performance offered STEAM Camp. This one-day workshop focused on topics of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). After the grant ended in 2019, DSU reworked the event into Teach Camp, making it available online to increase the number of attendees and provide sessions addressing all teaching areas in addition to STEAM.
