Additional Council Appointee Bylaw Change

Whereas…

  • Interest in the Councils has grown in recent years.

  • The work of the Councils regularly exceeds the capacity of its members.

  • The Councils are a pipeline for member-leaders to gain experience in MAPE's statewide work.

Resolved:

The Organizing and Political Councils will add an additional appointed member, from two (2) appointees to three (3). Sections 11.A, 11.F, 12.A and 12.F of Article VI of MAPE's bylaws shall reflect the increase in appointees.

Section 11.    Organizing Council. 

A. An Organizing Council, consisting of five elected members and two three appointed members. The Statewide President is an ex-officio non-voting member of the council.

F. Appointments. The two three appointed council members shall be appointed by the Statewide President subject to Board approval.

Section 12.    Political Council. 

A. The Political Council shall consist of five elected members and two three appointed members. The Statewide President is an ex-officio non-voting member of the council.

F. Appointments. The two three appointed council members shall be appointed by the Statewide President subject to Board approval. One of the two appointed members shall be a member of the Political Action Committee if one is currently not seated.
