Renaissance and Starr Award Nominations Now Open

The Georgia Cities Foundation is accepting nominations for two awards that honor outstanding contributions to downtown revitalization across Georgia.

The Renaissance Award, established in 2003, recognizes an individual or organization from the private, non-profit, civic, philanthropic, or private academic sectors that has made a significant contribution to revitalizing one or more Georgia downtowns. Governmental agencies and their staff are not eligible.

The Starr Award, established in 2019, honors an individual who has helped create a unique and vibrant downtown environment in a Georgia city. The award is given annually in memory of Mike Starr, who served as Georgia Cities Foundation's President for two decades until his death in 2019. It celebrates those who embody his defining traits: visionary, innovator, servant leader, and champion for downtowns.

Both awards will be presented at the Georgia Municipal Association's Annual Convention in Savannah, June 26-30, 2026.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026.
