BIRMINGHAM, AL- Representative Gary Palmer (AL-06)is pleased to announce Harsha Bheemanathini, Monisha Bommu, Harini Chakilam, and Greeshma Vinoy as the winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge in Alabama's Sixth Congressional District. This contest provides a valuable opportunity for middle and high schoolers to develop their skills in computer coding, math, science, and related subjects by creating an original application. This year's winning team attends Alabama School of Fine Arts, and their app is titled "Cent-sation."
"I'm very impressed with Harsha, Monisha, Harini, and Greeshma's work for the App Challenge," said Rep. Palmer. "They are incredibly talented and have created something valuable to help students learn how to budget as they prepare for college and adulthood. STEM skills are becoming more important every day, and I'm confident these students will go far. They should be proud of their hard work."
Cent-sation is an app to help individuals stay financially organized and learn how to budget effectively as they transition from school to adulthood. The design of the app includes a progress bar, customizable category options, and a notes section to keep track of specific details to make the software user-friendly and effective.
The winning students will receive recognition certificates from Rep. Palmer and will have the chance to present their app at a coding fair in Washington, D.C., in the spring.
