Juneteenth Holiday Operating Hours and Closings

DENTON, TX, June 16, 2025 - In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, the City of Denton announces several facility closures and service adjustments. The City will return to regular operations at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 20.

Airport

Airport administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the holiday season. Airport Operations is available 24/7 at (940) 349-7722.

Animal Services and Shelter

Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on Thursday, June 19. Regular hours will resume on Friday, June 20. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed on Thursday, June 19. Regular hours will resume on Friday, June 20.

Municipal Courts

The Denton Municipal Court will be closed Thursday, June 19. Online options and automated phone payments remain available 24 hours per day. Normal business hours will resume Friday, June 20.

Parks and Recreation

The Denton Civic Center, Denia Recreation Center, MLK Jr. Recreation Center, North Lakes Recreation Center, Denton Senior Center, and American Legion Hall Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, June 19. Regular hours will resume on Friday, June 20.

The North Lakes Driving Range, Denton Natatorium, Water Works Park, Civic Center Pool, and the Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center all will remain open for normal hours.

Public Safety

All public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181, and in case of an emergency, dial 911.

Solid Waste & Recycling

Utilities

Customer Service will be closed on Thursday, June 19, and will reopen at normal business hours on Friday, June. 20. To report a utility service emergency, call Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
