July 2025
Dear Friends of the Arts,
Vermont summer has hit its stride and we're soaking up all the arts and culture happenings around the state. Just like you, we here at the Arts Council have found plenty to experience, entertain, and inspire. I was wowed at Circus Smirkus in Waterbury, while Deirdre, our operations specialist, spent a day exploring galleries in Randolph including ART, etc , People's Gallery , Third Branch Pottery Supply . Arts Education Manager Troy caught the summer youth musical production of "Oliver" at the Chandler Center for the Arts , also in Randolph . Amy, the Council's deputy director, scooted to southern Vermont for Preservation Trust's Village Meet-Up with a reception at the Hall Foundation in Reading. Communications Director Catherine attended the opening celebration of the annual outdoor sculpture exhibition "Exposed" at The Current in Stowe and nearly screamed seeing Nicholas Galanin's impressive " Neon National Anthem " interactive installment. Dominique, our artist services manager, popped over to Glover for a special Bread & Puppet talk from Catherine Liu entitled, "The Courtier, the Clown, and the Gangster." Finance Administrator Tom grooved to summer concerts at Sam Mazza's farm stand in Colchester, while Senior Program Manager Michele toe-tapped to the country-folk tunes of Sweet Cicely at Oxbow Park in Morrisville.
"Come join for a listen. It's like hanging out at your friend's house eating the best homemade pie with your favorite drink at a comfortable place by the fire," says the band's website. Michele can attest that indeed it was.
We hope you, too, have found a place by the fire, by the river, at the farm, on the porch, or at a gallery near you this summer to experience the best of Vermont's vibrant arts and culture scene.
There's still time! Check out the Vermont Arts Calendar for hundreds of happenings from around the state.
