VA Lebanon Healthcare System Receives 5 Stars for Second Year in a Row from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

VA Lebanon Healthcare System announced that it received a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. This is the second year in a row that the Veteran's hospital has achieved this ranking. Lebanon VA Healthcare System is one of only 15 hospitals in Pennsylvania with a five-star rating. Ninety-one fewer hospitals earned a five-star quality rating from CMS this year compared to 2024. Of the approximately 6,120 hospitals in the United States, only 290 received the 5-star rating.

CMS publishes its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings annually. Star ratings reflect a hospital's performance across five quality measures: mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. CMS ratings aim to improve patients' ability to make informed decisions about where they receive care.

Lebanon VA Healthcare System Director, Jeffrey Beiler, told the system's staff, "It's an honor to announce that Lebanon VAMC is one of only 15 hospitals in Pennsylvania-and among the few to include the Wilkes-Barre VAMC and Philadelphia VAMC-to earn this top rating. This accolade validates the high-quality care we provide, often surpassing what Veterans might receive elsewhere. Our empolyees' dedication and excellence in delivering exceptional health care are truly commendable. Congratulations and thank you for the remarkable work you do every day."

VA is committed to delivering the timely, world-class health care Veterans deserve and will stop at nothing less. The overall rating - as well as ratings on specific quality and satisfaction measures - of your local VA hospital can be found via CMS' Care Compare tool .
