WASHINGTON, D.C. -Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) announced a new grant for Gaston Community Action from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) totaling $5,177,611 as part of the Head Start Program.
"I'm proud to share that folks in Gaston County will benefit from a new $5 million grant to support early childhood education and services for local families. Programs like this play an important role in helping children get off to a strong start while also supporting parents who are working hard to provide for their families," said Congressman Moore.
According to HHS, Head Start programs support children's growth from birth to age 5 through services centered around early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes.
