Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko has received a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev.
In his letter, the Foreign Minister invited representatives of the IPA CIS to participate in the international observation of the first elections to Kazakhstan's Kurultai.
"Kazakhstan will make every effort to ensure that the elections are conducted in a transparent manner and in full compliance with national legislation and international standards," the letter states.
Voting is scheduled for 23 August 2026. Under the new Constitution, the Parliament will become unicameral.
This will be the 21st election observation mission to Kazakhstan conducted by the IPA CIS and the 170th observation mission in the Assembly's history. The IPA CIS has been observing elections since 1994, with its very first observation mission beginning in Kazakhstan.
