Ameren partners with southeast Missouri organizations to offer support for community initiatives

ST. LOUIS (Jan. 20, 2025) - Ameren has announced more than $70,000 in community impact support for five southeast Missouri organizations, with a focus on improving local communities and services.

"Our commitment to investing in communities goes beyond providing safe, reliable energy. We partner with area nonprofits and organizations to make our communities a better place to live."

Ameren is supporting these organizations and initiatives:

  • Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri will receive a $25,000 community impact grant for its ROC the Block initiative that will revitalize a South Cape Girardeau neighborhood. The plan includes cleaning up debris, landscaping improvements and cutting overgrown vegetation to a blighted area, which will improve safety and create a welcoming new green space.
  • Bootheel Regional Planning Commission in Dexter will receive a $20,000 community impact grant for work in the southern part of our service territory to identify blight and connect resources.
  • Community Counseling Center in Cape Girardeau recently received a $10,000 grant from Ameren Transmission for their Social and Emotional Learning curriculum.

"We're incredibly grateful to Ameren for supporting our ROC the Block project," said Dr. Melissa Stickel, Executive Director of Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri. "This grant allows us to revitalize the South Cape neighborhood by cleaning up and enhancing the areas around the homes our YouthBuild program is renovating. By transforming these neglected spaces, we're making the neighborhood safer, more beautiful, and fostering a strong sense of community pride and ownership. Ameren's support is truly making a positive impact on the lives of our residents."
