30-Year Prison Sentence in Armed Robbery Shooting Case

July 23, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, Drakar K. Munoz, 28, was sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for robbing and shooting a man in the summer of 2023. The victim survived but sustained two gunshot wounds to the stomach, and his cross-body bag was stolen.

In June 2025, a jury convicted Munoz of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

The court sentenced Munoz to 30 years in prison on the armed robbery charge, to be served at 50%. He also received 20 years for the aggravated battery charge, to be served at 85%. Both sentences will be served at the same time.

On August 15, 2023, Munoz and Jimmy Williams met the victim at the parking lot of the Parkwood Commons Apartment Complex. After a brief exchange, Munoz pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim while Williams took his bag. Munoz then shot the victim twice, and both suspects fled the scene.

In April 2024, Williams pleaded guilty to armed robbery and was sentenced to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for this incident.
