Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Police Department (GPD) has been awarded grant funding from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for the 2026 Federal Fiscal Year. These critical funds will directly support GPD's mission to enhance road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents in our community.
The awarded grants empower officers to dedicate additional time beyond their regular duties to targeted traffic enforcement in key areas such as speeding, DUI prevention, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. This proactive enforcement is essential to a safer environment for all who travel on our roadways.
These funds allow GPD to expand its reach and presence on the streets, ensuring that dangerous driving behaviors are addressed swiftly and effectively.
Breakdown of Awarded Grant Funds:
Driving Under the Influence Enforcement Overtime: $77,000.00
Selective Traffic Enforcement Program - Speeding Enforcement Overtime: $65,000.00
Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Enforcement Overtime: $6,676.00
