Community invited to offer input on Central Maui Community Plan Update at County design workshops

The County of Maui Department of Planning is inviting the Central Maui community to participate in a series of Community Design Workshops this month that will help shape the Central Maui Community Plan Update.

During the workshops, community members will engage in mapping activities to identify:

  • Areas they would like to preserve
  • Places that need improvement
  • Ideas for future growth and development

"This is an important opportunity for Central Maui residents to make their voices heard and to help shape their future," said County of Maui Planning Director Kate Blystone. "We welcome anyone who lives, works or plays in Central Maui to attend."

The following are workshop dates and locations:

  • Thursday, Sept. 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Waiheʻe Elementary School, 2125 Kahekili Highway
    Focus Area: Waiheʻe, Waiehu, and Kahakuloa
  • Tuesday, Sept. 23, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Velma McWayne Santos Community Center, 395 Waena St., Wailuku
    Focus Area: Wailuku and Waikapū
  • Wednesday, Sept. 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Kahului Community Center, 275 Uhu St., Kahului.
    Focus Area: Kahului

The feedback gathered from the workshops will inform land use plans, policies and actions in the upcoming draft Central Maui Community Plan Update.
