NEW YORK - Nov. 5, 2026 - The NFL and USAA, an official NFL Salute to Service partner, today announced the 32 nominees for the 2026 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. Representing all 32 NFL clubs, this year's nominees include players, coaches, staff and alumni who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to supporting U.S. service members, veterans and their families.
Now in its 16th year, the Salute to Service Award recognizes individuals across the league who go above and beyond to honor, empower and connect with the military community. This year's nominees support those who serve through partnerships with veteran-focused organizations, hands-on community engagement and other efforts informed by their personal connections to military service.
"These nominees exemplify a commitment to something bigger than the game," said Anna Isaacson, senior vice president of social responsibility at the NFL. "Through their year-round support for service members, veterans and their families, they show how the NFL community can turn gratitude into action in communities across the country. We are proud to recognize these individuals alongside USAA and share their stories with fans."
"The Salute to Service Award is an incredible opportunity each season for USAA and the NFL to recognize those who engage in exceptional efforts to show appreciation for the military community, particularly this year as our nation celebrates 250 years," said Major General (Retired) Bob Whittle, senior vice president and head of military affairs at USAA. "We are proud to celebrate these nominees and their exceptional contributions towards honoring and supporting our military, and we hope they encourage fans everywhere to do the same."
Fans can vote for their favorite nominee at NFL.com/SaluteFanVote, with one vote per nominee per day from now through Monday, November 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Fan voting will help determine the award's three finalists, who will be announced in January 2027. The award recipient will be recognized at NFL Honors, the league's annual primetime awards special, during the week of Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles.

His foundation has invested nearly $700,000 in military support, including funding for trauma healing through REBOOT Recovery and personalized medical care through Resilience Code.
As the 2025 Salute to Service Award recipient, McCaffrey will join the Salute to Service Award panel that will select the 2026 award recipient. Additional judges include Chad Hennings, Air Force Academy graduate and three-time Super Bowl champion; Donnie Edwards, 2019 Salute to Service Award Recipient, NFL Legend; Bob Whittle, USAA Senior Vice President and Head of Military Affairs; and Christine Dorfler, NFL Chief Financial Officer and U.S. Army Veteran.

The NFL Foundation will match USAA's contribution by donating an additional $25,000 to the recipient's military nonprofit charity of choice.
Through Salute to Service, USAA, the NFL and its 32 clubs honor, empower and connect with service members, veterans and their families year-round. Dr. Choate's military experiences serve as the foundation of the level of care and attention that he provides to the athletes he treats today. He takes great pride in caring for people who demand the most of themselves, which drives him to be better. New York Giants |
Allison Stangeby |
VP of Community Relations |
Allison Stangeby, Giants VP of Community & Corporate Relations, embodies each tenet of the NFL's Salute to Service campaign to honor, empower and connect service members, veterans and their families. Long before her son, SSgt Joseph Stangeby, entered the Army, Stangeby was working behind the scenes with the team to HONOR those who courageously serve or have served our country. Stangeby continues to show her military support in many meaningful ways, from facilitating re-enlistment ceremonies to donating game tickets to military families. Stangeby's goal is to continuously EMPOWER the military community. Hosting military personnel at practice has allowed the team to give their thanks and show their support, and surprising a family each game day for our on-field "Military Moment" has inspired our fans for years - all things she's incredibly honored to have championed. And when things get difficult as a military mom, her moms support group has empowered her to continue the good work she's doing. While proud of these accomplishments, Stangeby mostly understands the importance of building relationships to CONNECT with the military community. Whether it's in our backyard with the NYPD veterans group or in our German international market, she's ensuring that service members and veterans are getting the support they need. She spearheaded the team partnering with amazing military-related nonprofits such as Merging Vets and Players, Tunnel to Towers Foundation for their Homeless Veterans Program, Puppies Behind Bars and HicksStrong. For someone who's been with the Giants for 36 seasons, her work within the military community has never gone unnoticed and is the reason so many tri-state area military organizations receive the support they so badly need. We are proud and honored to nominate Allison Stangeby for this award - an incredible military mom and champion for those who fight for our freedom. |

Tony HONORS the sacrifices made by his father, Ben Richardson, a US Army Sergeant Major, Vietnam Veteran, Purple Heart Recipient and Drill Sergeant, and his sister, Shon Richardson, who served as a Master Sergeant for 28 years with 4 deployments, by volunteering his time consistently to support and meet with military personnel. Tony has also packed meals with AmeriCorps on September 11 alongside Roger Goodell and other NFL staff. Pittsburgh Steelers |
Jon Kolb |
NFL Legend |
Jon Kolb is the Steelers nominee for the NFL's Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. Kolb has a soft spot in his heart for those who have served in the military, after he joined the Army National Guard his rookie year with the Steelers in 1969. After searching for a way to help others in the service, he founded the non-profit Adventures in Training with a Purpose (ATP). The organization addresses health and movement challenges and is focused on improving the lives of men and women who served in the military through purposeful training in an effort to empower them and provide them the freedom to move and perform daily tasks on their own. It allows Jon to use his master's degree in exercise science, combined with his vast knowledge of strength and conditioning as a player, to help others, many of whom are veterans, improve their quality of life. ATP's clients are active-duty military, veterans, and first responders, and all receive services free of charge. "The idea is to give people the freedom to move," said Kolb. "Sometimes you can improve the circumstances for people. You have individuals who are trapped in a prison by their own bodies because they don't have the freedom to move. The purpose is to have freedom and a quality lifestyle. I am very passionate about it. Most of us would regret the things we didn't do." The staff at ATP tailors a plan for each client based on physical wellness and adventure, with training three days a week and two adventures per month. In addition, they work with Aurelius, a specialized program for the treatment of veterans, military, and first responders dealing with traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, traumatic brain injury and pain in an effort to address all areas. |

San Francisco 49ers |
Brant Boyer |
Special Teams Coordinator |
Coach Brant Boyer's commitment to the military community is rooted in a deeply personal legacy. His grandfather, a Marine who survived the Battle of Iwo Jima, raised him with the quiet strength of service. At 92 years old, Boyer's grandfather still carried the weight of that battle-the sounds of shells, the bombs falling all around them. It was only on their final fishing trip together that he opened up about what it was like when they landed. That conversation profoundly shaped Boyer's understanding of the sacrifice made by those who serve and the lasting impact that service carries long after coming home. Driven by this deep respect, Boyer has demonstrated genuine commitment to the military community through the NFL's My Cause My Cleats program. In 2024 and 2025, he represented Veterans Care Charity, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans and individuals facing hardship through emergency outreach and vital care programs, providing hygiene kits, blankets, and essential supplies to help rebuild their lives. This season, he will support Warriors and Quiet Waters, which empowers post-9/11 combat veterans and their loved ones to thrive through peak experiences in nature and evidence-based programs that foster growth, discovery and connection, and helps build community. Boyer's support extends beyond platform awareness. He actively participates in veteran experiences and excursions, stepping off the sideline to connect directly with the community he deeply honors. His commitment reflects his grandfather's legacy and his conviction that those who serve deserve the care and respect they've earned. |

Seattle Seahawks |
Mike Macdonald |
Head Coach |
Mike Macdonald was raised in a military family. Coach Macdonald's appreciation for those who serve began at an early age through his father, who served in the U.S. Army and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. That personal connection continues to shape the way he engages with and supports the military community today. Coach Macdonald HONORS service members through meaningful engagement opportunities that recognize their sacrifice and commitment. Since arriving in Seattle, he has prioritized creating connections between the Seahawks and the military community, including bringing the team and football operations staff to Joint Base Lewis-McChord to learn from active-duty service members and their families. He highlights the discipline, teamwork, leadership, and selfless service demonstrated by military personnel as examples for his team to emulate. Coach Macdonald CONNECTS with service members through authentic, personal interactions. During the Seahawks' Change of Command Ceremony at Training Camp, he welcomed more than 50 U.S. Navy sailors and leaders post-practice, taking time to shake hands, pose for photos, sign memorabilia, and personally thank them for their service. More importantly, he led by example, encouraging players and coaches to do the same. His actions create meaningful one-on-one interactions that make service members and their families feel recognized, valued, and appreciated. Coach Macdonald EMPOWERS the military community by fostering a culture of respect, learning, and gratitude throughout the Seahawks organization. Whether hosting military units at team activities, learning from elite service members, or welcoming the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to speak with the team about leadership, trust, and teamwork, he continually seeks opportunities to bridge the worlds of football and military service. Through these efforts, Coach Macdonald strengthens the bond between the Seahawks and the military community while ensuring service members, veterans, and their families know their sacrifices are honored and appreciated. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
Ben Bredeson |
Offensive Lineman |
Since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Buccaneers offensive lineman Ben Bredeson has been intentional in honoring the military community. As part of the NFL's leaguewide My Cause, My Cleats initiative, where players sport customized cleats in honor of causes they are passionate about, Bredeson has selected military non-profits, supporting the Wisconsin Guardian Foundation in his first two seasons as a Buccaneer and the Battle Ground 22 Foundation in 2023 while a member of the New York Giants. Additionally, Bredeson has taken part in the team's annual visit to MacDill Air Force Base to spend time with our nation's heroes and learn more about the special operations behind all that they do. Through the Buccaneers Community Ticket Program, where players purchase game tickets on their own dime to donate to local community organizations, Bredeson's are allocated to military organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area, hosting dozens of military families throughout the season. Now in his third season with the Buccaneers, Bredeson has worked to engrain himself in the community, volunteering at several events throughout the year, including the team's annual Turkey Time with the O-Line and O-Line Lights Up Christmas holiday events, helping to combat food insecurity and varying disparities in addition to his support of the military community. Additionally, he has worked with nonprofit Triumph Together to provide experiences for local cancer warriors both individually and alongside his teammates. Most recently, he hosted Parker, a 5-year-old fan battling cancer, at Buccaneers Training Camp, where Parker was able to watch practice, meet Buccaneers players and even collaborate with Bredeson on the artwork and layouts for this year's My Cause, My Cleats. He continues to find new ways to make an impact, both on and off the field. |

Tennessee Titans |
Jacob Martin |
Defensive End |
Jacob Martin, defensive end for the Tennessee Titans, embodies each tenet of the NFL's Salute to Service campaign to honor, empower and connect service members, veterans and their families. Raised in a military family, Martin learned firsthand the sacrifices service members make. His father served in the Marines and his sister currently serves in the U.S. Navy, a personal connection that shapes how he uses his platform. Martin has connected with the military community by joining multiple events throughout the years, including USO visits, Operation Finally Home and the Boots & Troops Gala. This year, he attended a Veterans Appreciation event with Wounded Warrior Project, serving lunch and playing Bingo with local veterans. Martin continuously honors service members through the TAPS program, having worn the initials of fallen soldiers previously. In his first year with the Titans, he continued that tradition by meeting with the family of a fallen soldier and wearing those initials on game day. Martin hosted a Golf Challenge that raised money for Boots & Troops, helping the organization empower service members who are deployed by sending personalized care packages. Martin also mentors a close friend who is a former service member, offering support and empowerment as he navigates life after service. Martin continues to use his platform to salute the bravery and sacrifice of service members, veterans and their families. |

Tyler Ott |
Long Snapper |
For Washington Commanders long snapper Tyler Ott, supporting the military community is a deeply personal cause. Tyler has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to honoring, connecting, and empowering service members, veterans, and military families through engagement and service. Throughout his NFL career, Tyler has used his platform to empower those who serve. During his time with the Seattle Seahawks, he was an anchor in their Salute to Service initiatives, frequently engaging with Merging Vets & Players (MVP) - an organization that brings together veterans and former professional athletes to build community, strength, and mutual support. Since landing in Washington, Tyler continues to lift up military families and service members through volunteering for our Salute opportunities. Recently, Tyler's commitment to military appreciation took on an even deeper personal meaning. A close family member unexpectedly passed away while serving in the military.
