A team of five students from Georgia College & State University (GCSU) claimed the top spot among United States universities at the SAP North American ERPsim Competition, outperforming teams from major R1 research universities including Penn State, the University of Michigan, the University of Arkansas, and California State University.
The team represented the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology's Department of Information Systems & Computer Science. Hosted by ERPsim Lab at HEC Montréal, the competition challenges students to manage a manufacturing company using SAP's enterprise resource planning system, applying real-time data analytics and strategic thinking to maximize net profits and company valuation.
As a member of the SAP University Alliance, GCSU provides students with hands-on experience in enterprise resource planning (ERP) technologies, skills increasingly essential for careers in today's corporate landscape. The competing team drew on coursework in Enterprise Resource Planning, Enterprise Performance Management, Full Stack Development, and Business Intelligence classes, and developed competitive dashboards using AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code and data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
The team brought together both graduate and undergraduate talent, reflecting the interdisciplinary depth of GCSU's technology-focused curriculum. Ezra Ryall (MIS major) led planning and production operations; Andrea Barnett (MIS major), Ashley Beaty (DS major), and Gracie Taylor (MMIS major) managed strategy, logistics, and marketing; and Carley Perez (MMIS major) oversaw pricing, capital investment, and loan repayment while sustaining strong company valuation throughout the simulation. Alternate Tucker Carl Balch (MMIS major), served as a competitor during practice rounds and helped refine the team's strategy.
This winning team was coached by Dr. Joy Godin, who began preparation in fall 2025, guiding students through practice rounds, dashboard development, and competitive strategy all while students balanced a full academic course load.
Congratulations to this outstanding team for representing Georgia College with distinction on a national stage!
