Shamrock Marathon Scheduled this Weekend; Closures in Downtown Sacramento

Sacramento - Caltrans is alerting motorists about various closures Saturday and Sunday for the Triumph Cancer Foundation's annual Shamrockn's 5K/10K and half marathon in Sacramento.
The Tower Bridge and various on- and off-ramps are scheduled to be closed during the event.
Duration of the event:
  • Saturday, March 14 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. or until the last participant crosses the finish line.
  • Sunday, March 15 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the last participant crosses the finish line.

Closures to traffic for the duration of the event:

  • Tower Bridge
  • Q Street off-ramp from eastbound U.S. Highway 50 and northbound and southbound Interstate 5 (I-5)
  • Broadway off-ramp from northbound I-5

Caltrans reminds motorists to excess caution and avoid distractions when near the event. This is a family event where thousands of participants, spectators and volunteers will be present along the route of the event, as well as hydration and first aid stations. Motorists are also encouraged to plan and allow extra travel time.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
