The Sonoma County Homeless Coalition has begun its annual review of local housing and homelessness programs funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC) Program.
Each year, HUD requires communities to evaluate and prioritize the programs included in their federal funding application. The review process is conducted by the CoC Competition Evaluation Workgroup, which includes Homeless Coalition Board members, community partners, and individuals with lived experience of homelessness. The group reviews project materials and conducts interviews with providers to help determine project priorities.
The workgroup will begin reviewing existing programs in April 2026. Final rankings will be completed after HUD releases the 2026 Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), which is expected on or before June 1, 2026.
At this time, the Homeless Coalition is not accepting applications for new projects. Information about applying for new funding will be shared after the 2026 NOFO is released.
Materials related to the competition process will be posted publicly on the following webpage as they become available: https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/health-and-human-services/health-services/divisions/homelessness-services/sonoma-county-homeless-coalition/continuum-of-care-competition
