Industry News: CEI Ventures, Inc, a community development venture capital fund based in Maine, has joined a $2.65 million Series A funding round in North Spore, a Maine-based mushroom company committed to making the world of mushrooms accessible to all. Other investors in this round include Maine Venture Fund, Maine Technology Institute, and a small number of mission-aligned angel investors. Prior to this round, the company had bootstrapped funding with debt and had not raised any equity. North Spore is headquartered in a low-income census tract. This funding round is supporting the company's growth by creating good jobs with strong benefits and advancement opportunities in Portland, ME.
