MADISON, Wis. - The Midwestern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (MASDA) Regional Meeting was held in Madison, Wisconsin on June 22 - 24, 2026. Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Randy Romanski is currently serving as MASDA President and hosted the event including business meetings, panel discussions, and industry tours.

"It has been an honor to lead the MASDA organization this year, facilitating conversations and connecting the dots across the region," said Romanski. "I was proud to welcome the meeting attendees to Wisconsin and showcase the diversity of the state's agriculture industry."

MASDA is comprised of the Commissioners, Secretaries, and Directors of Agriculture from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. These leaders meet throughout the year to discuss current issues and consider policies impacting the region.

While in Wisconsin, attendees participated in tours highlighting Wisconsin's leadership in bovine genetics, land and water conservation practices, and meat and dairy processing. Panel discussions celebrated youth engagement, the International Year of the Woman Farmer, and the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports.

The 2026 MASDA Regional Meeting also included a meeting of the Food Export Association of the Midwest USA (Food Export Midwest). The non-profit organization works throughout the year to facilitate trade between Midwestern food suppliers and importers around the world.

Romanski was elected President of Food Export Midwest. In this role, the Secretary will provide leadership during the organization's meetings and work to strengthen agricultural exports from the Midwestern region.

The next meetings of MASDA and Food Export Midwest will be at the 2026 National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Annual Meeting in September 2026. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which represents the elected and appointed Commissioners, Secretaries, and Directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories.
