TULSA, Okla. - Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa will host country icon Deana Carter with special opening act Haywire as part of 90's Country Night inside the casino on Friday, Aug. 7. Haywire will kick off at Track 5. at 8 p.m., with Deana Carter taking the stage at 10 p.m.
The show is free to those 21 and older.
Carter rose to stardom with her multiplatinum debut album, "Did I Shave My Legs for This?" which featured the enduring country classics "Strawberry Wine," "We Danced Anyway" and "How Do I Get There." The album topped both country and pop charts and produced three consecutive No. 1 singles, cementing its place as one of the most influential country releases of the 1990s.
Known for blending country, folk and roots-rock influences, Carter has built a career spanning more than three decades with eight studio albums, acclaimed songwriting credits and a reputation as one of Nashville's most distinctive voices. Her music draws inspiration from a wide range of legendary artists, including Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings and Dolly Parton, whose influence helped shape her signature country-pop sound.
A Nashville native and daughter of renowned studio guitarist and producer Fred Carter Jr., she began developing her songwriting craft in Nashville before signing recording and publishing deals that launched her career. Her talent earned the attention of Willie Nelson, who invited her to perform at Farm Aid VII alongside John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson and Neil Young.
In addition to her success as a recording artist, Carter has earned industry recognition as a songwriter and producer. She co-wrote "You & Tequila," recorded by Kenny Chesney, which received nominations from the Grammy Awards, the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. She has also served in leadership roles with the Recording Academy, advocating for artists, creators and music industry professionals.
Today, Carter continues to write, record and tour while releasing music through her own label, Little Nugget Records. Her most recent work explores themes of love, loss, relationships and personal growth, reflecting the honest storytelling that has defined her career.
