TRAFFIC ALERT: Closures Planned as $1.7 Billion LBJ East Project Continues

Several traffic changes are planned along Interstate 635 in the coming week -- in addition to the regularly scheduled mainlane closures which have been an ongoing part of the process throughout the five-year LBJ East project.

Beginning Friday evening, April 4, the exit from eastbound I-635 to Garland Avenue (Exit 12) will close for approximately one month. The exit will also be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, April 3, to 5 a.m. Friday, April 4. Drivers will use the Walnut Hill Lane/Kingsley Road/Jupiter Road exit (Exit 13).

Through Friday morning, April 4, Garland Avenue is closed at I-635 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Beginning Friday evening, April 4, the entrance to eastbound I-635 from Jupiter Road will be shifted east, past Shiloh Road. The eastbound I-635 entrance at Jupiter Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday, April 3, to 5 a.m. Friday, April 4, from 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, to 8 a.m. Saturday, April 5, and from 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, to 8 a.m. Sunday, April 6.

Beginning Friday evening, April 4, all lanes of Walnut Hill/Kingsley will be closed at I-635 for approximately six months.

The eastbound I-635 frontage road between Kingsley Road and Jupiter Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, April 3, to 5 a.m. Friday, April 4, from 9 p.m. Friday April 4, to 8 a.m. Saturday, April 5, and from 9 p.m. Saturday, April 5, to 8 a.m. Sunday, April 6.

From 8 p.m. Friday evening, April 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, April 7, all lanes of Centerville Road/Ferguson Road will be closed at I-635.

From 9 p.m. Thursday, April 3, to 5 a.m. Friday, April 4, and from 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, to 5 a.m. Saturday, April 5, all lanes of the westbound I-635 frontage road will be closed just past Plano Road.

Through Sunday morning, April 6, the entrance to I-635 from Miller Road is closed between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Through Sunday morning, April 6, the exit from eastbound I-635 to Miller Road (Exit 15) is closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Various lanes of the eastbound I-635 frontage road approaching Royal Lane/Miller Road may also be closed between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The $1.7 billion LBJ East project to reconstruct and widen I-635 from U.S. Highway to Interstate 30 includes the I-635/I-30 interchange. The general-purpose lanes will be expanded and the existing tolled managed lanes will be rebuilt. When complete, there will be a total of 10 general purpose lanes and two tolled managed lanes. The project also includes the construction of continuous frontage roads and numerous intersection improvements.
