Deputy Foreign Minister Cirielli participated in the G7 Development Ministerial Meeting in Paris

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Edmondo Cirielli, participated in the G7 Development Ministerial Meeting in Paris. The key topics discussed included support for vulnerable populations, capacity building in developing countries, and cross-cutting issues such as food security, resilience and disaster risk reduction, and global health.

The Ministerial Meeting highlighted the shift from traditional financial aid towards an approach based on investment and partnerships, promoting a shared vision grounded in a new paradigm for development. This is a path already undertaken by Italy, particularly in Africa under the Mattei Plan, thanks to the joint commitment of the Italian System alongside partner countries, civil society organisations and the private sector.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Deputy Minister Cirielli met with the French Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eleonore Caroit, to discuss their respective development policies within the European Union and in strategic and particularly sensitive areas such as the Sahel.

Deputy Minister Cirielli also met with some of the main global partners of Italian Development Cooperation: the President of IFAD, the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships, the Administrator of UNDP, the Director of the World Bank and the Administrator of the Global Partnership for Education.
