Series C funding fuels AI-powered analytics for organizations managing petabyte-scale datasets.
When Ocient first took root in Chicago, it was a young company from a serial entrepreneur setting out to solve an ambitious problem. Its founder, Chris Gladwin, wanted to analyze the massive datasets that conventional databases couldn't handle. The team set up shop at TeamWorking by TechNexus, our shared collaboration space in Chicago, where it was surrounded by other founders, mentors and advisors. TechNexus Venture Collaborative backed the company in its seed round, believing from the onset in Ocient's mission to make the world's largest datasets practical to work with.
This week, Ocient announced a $100 million Series C, co-led by BOKA Capital and OCA Ventures, to help organizations put AI agents to work on their largest datasets. Its total capital raised is now $260 million.
Ocient said it expects to more than triple revenue this year. The new capital will go toward OcientAIQ Solutions, which help organizations run agentic AI against petabyte-scale data in settings like cybersecurity and telecom compliance. Because analysis runs inside the engine rather than through a language model, every result can be reproduced and audited.
It's a long way from the company's start. Gladwin, who founded Ocient after building Cleversafe, a Chicago startup that sold to IBM for $1.3 billion, set out to make the largest datasets practical to work with. A decade later, that bet has grown into a platform serving the kinds of customers that depend on speed, scale and trust.
Ocient's customers sit in industries where data volumes are enormous and speed matters, like Telecommunications, national security agencies, and adtech firms. Its customers have included Dun & Bradstreet and adtech platform Basis Technologies.
Still headquartered at TeamWorking, Ocient is building the data infrastructure behind AI agents right from Chicago.
