Everytown Launches $3 Million Paid Media Campaign to Elect Moms Demand Action Volunteers in 5 Battleground States and Flip State Legislative Chambers

WASHINGTON - Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety VF MN announced a $3 million paid media campaign to elect former Moms Demand Action volunteers in key state legislative battleground districts across Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where control of 10 legislative chambers is at stake this November. Targeting persuasion and turnout audiences, the streaming and digital ads will highlight the strong public safety records of our endorsed candidates and the threat MAGA extremists pose to common-sense gun safety laws and our communities.

"So much of the progress we've made on gun safety started in state legislatures, and with the Trump administration shredding federal gun laws, they've never mattered more," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown has a winning playbook for electing Moms Demand Action volunteers in the races that flip chambers, and we're putting it to work in these five critical battleground states."

In 2021, Everytown Victory Fund launched the Demand a Seat program to train grassroots volunteers and gun violence survivors to take the next step in their advocacy efforts by running for office or working on campaigns. Since then, the program has elected more than 600 volunteers to office across 43 states and six former volunteers now serve in Congress. Last year, Everytown helped elect former Moms Demand Action volunteer Abigail Spanberger as Governor of Virginia and volunteers now make up 20% of the Virginia General Assembly's House Democratic majority. In her first legislative session, Governor Spanberger signed a ban on the sale of assault weapons and 20 other gun safety bills into law. Moms Demand Action volunteers now hold five or more seats in 15 state legislative chambers.
