Alumna Mollie Trewartha, who earned both master's and education specialist degrees from NMU, has been appointed the new principal of Hancock Middle and High Schools. She begins her new role July 21.

According to a Hancock Public Schools press release, Threwartha has more than 24 years' experience in education, and is known for her student-centered leadership and collaborative spirit. She previously served as a mathematics teacher and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) coordinator in the Houghton-Portage Township School District.

"I'm excited to partner with students, staff and families to continue the tradition of Bulldog pride," said Trewartha. "Together, we can create a thriving school environment where every student feels seen, supported and challenged."

In addition to her NMU degrees, Trewartha is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership from Central Michigan University.

"We are thrilled to welcome Mollie to the Hancock School District," said Hancock Superindent Chris Salani. "Her proven track record of being an exceptional educator, her commitment to professional growth as an educational leader, and dedication to student success makes her an outstanding addition to our team."
