First Taste of Forthcoming New Project 'The Breakup Variety Hour'
Today, NYC nightlife legend Ariana and the Rose returns with her first new music in three years, "I Just Came To Say Goodbye". It serves as a sneak peek of what the Brooklyn art-pop superstar will bring with her forthcoming new album 'The Breakup Variety Hour', a recorded adaptation of her recent national tour (equal doses of pop concert, cabaret, & stand-up comedy set) out this fall.
Co-written alongside HARLOE (Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Charli XCX), the track begins as a piano-accompanied farewell to a romance which spins into a cyclone of shimmering synths, driving percussion and gospel choral refrains.
Also out today is the accompanying visualizer, self-shot/produced/designed by Ariana, which serves as a juxtaposition to the glamour of the spotlight vs the rough edges behind the scenes.

""I Just Came to Say Goodbye" is the introduction to new album The Breakup Variety Hour. The show is the album, the album is the one-woman show. 6 steps to get you through a breakup through song, comedy and a touch of chaos," explained Ariana. "This song is where we begin, at the moment we decide to leave and the rest of the record is how we piece ourselves back together and come out the other side."
Additionally, today's announcement precedes the forthcoming on-sale date for her summer residency at Club Cumming, with performances confirmed for July 16th, Aug 13th & Sept 11th.
"I Just Came To Say Goodbye" is Ariana's first new song since the Brooklyn popstar's 2022 debut album 'Lonely Hearts Club, which Billboard called "a siren call to the club" and People described as "an impressive dance LP that her foremothers (like Madonna, Robyn and Kylie Minogue) would be proud of."
From making downtown chic street pop, to curating her own i mmersive art & music party residency in Brooklyn, to touring all over the country, performing at the Orlando Fringe Festival, making her late night tv debut , and interviews with the likes of Paper Magazine , Vogue , Nylon and more, Ariana and the Rose has become a force to be reckoned with.
She notably blew up over the pandemic by creating "piano chat" videos sharing bits of advice, lessons learned, or just the casual shit-talking of terrible first dates. She has received over 3.8m likes on the platform, with millions of views, as well as consistently huge engagement on her witty Instagram posts. Example HERE .
The viral success led to a residency at Club Cumming in NYC and then a national US tour (kicking off with a sold-out night at Joe's Pub in NYC) where Ariana curated The Breakup Variety Hour formula, bridging together humorous anecdotes, heartfelt ruminations of heartbreak, and dynamite pop performances to create a singular experience that is her very own while also calling to mind the talents of icons like Bette Midler and Carol Burnett.
More to come soon from the forthcoming new album.
