NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (January 6, 2026) - The road to the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution begins in New Brunswick this January. On Saturday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m., the New Brunswick Free Public Library, 60 Livingston Ave., will host acclaimed historian Dr. Maxine N. Lurie to launch a series of NJ250 commemorative events.
Lurie, a preeminent authority on early American history, will lead a deep dive into the complex loyalties of the 17th and 18th centuries. As the author of Taking Sides in Revolutionary New Jersey: Caught in the Crossfire, she brings a unique perspective to the state's pivotal role at the "Crossroads of the Revolution."
Her research highlights the difficult choices faced by ordinary citizens during the conflict-a theme that resonates as New Jersey prepares for a multi-year national celebration.
