Denver Police Arrest Suspect in Attempted Murder

Denver - Thursday, September 3, 2026 - The Denver Police Department has made an arrest related to an attempted murder that occurred on August 29, 2026, in the 600 Block of N. Canosa Street.

On August 29, 2026, at about 10:42 p.m., Denver Police officers responded to a report of shooting in the 600 Block of N. Bryant St. Officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds and the victim was transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim provided critical information to investigators regarding the specific location of the shooting on N. Canosa St. and a detailed suspect description, which led to detectives recovering evidence and identifying a possible suspect. It appears the shooting may have occurred when the victim confronted the suspect about a prior theft of the victim's belongings.

On Monday, August 31, 2026, officers located the suspect matching the detailed description provided by the victim. Officers arrested the suspect, Alejandro Gomez (DOB: 10/09/81), who is currently being held for Investigation of First Degree Attempted Murder and First Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The Denver District Attorney's Office will make the final determination regarding charges.
