Temporary line restores heat to Miller Hall

The team working on the Miller Hall heating repair project has installed a temporary steam line between Miller and the steam plant to provide steam heat to the building during the remainder of construction. Testing on the line, which runs above ground through the construction site, is complete, and the line was brought into service Tuesday morning. With the return of steam heat, spaces should be more comfortable for work and study, reducing the need for space heaters.

There are still too many unknowns in the repair process to provide a firm date for completion, but the team is continuing to work through challenges as they arise and move the project forward. Academic Maintenance is monitoring temperatures within the building and working with building occupants to address their needs. Please keep windows closed to help retain heat. Intermittent construction noise should be expected throughout the project, but notifications will be sent to those who may be impacted by unusually loud work.

East College Way is expected to remain closed through the end of the fall quarter. Please be aware of the emergency vehicle access lane that runs between College and Haggard Halls, past Carver and Bond and through Red Square. The lane has been marked with fire lane tape in Red Square, and the entire length of the lane must be kept clear at all times. People may walk in the lane, but no parking, tabling, or event activity is allowed.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
