Leader Schumer Statement On The Passage Of The Continuing Resolution

Washington, D.C. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after the Senate passed the bipartisan Continuing Resolution, which funds the government through December 11^th:

"This CR is a responsible, bipartisan step toward funding the government, avoiding a shutdown, and continuing to negotiate a budget that serves the American people.

"Senate Democrats have been working toward this result for months, focusing on funding the government while staving off some of Trump's disgraceful, partisan efforts, like his mission to withhold federal grants for vital community projects.

"We are now in a good position to hash out a strong, bipartisan budget that makes Americans' lives more affordable without handing a blank check to Trump for more of his costs, chaos, and corruption.

"Senate Democrats will always be willing to work across the aisle and negotiate in good faith to deliver results for working Americans."
