For many years, the TMU community has spent the last few months of the year supporting the United Way giving campaign. In the past 10 years, we've raised over $1 million.
I'm happy to announce that we're launching this year's campaign on November 13 and it will run until our winter break in December.
From day one, our university's mission has been unique - to serve societal needs and prepare students for careers. As part of that mission, we have a long history of partnering with organizations that share our values to address the increasingly complex challenges faced by our city, region and province.
The TMU annual United Way campaign is one more way we can come together to make our mission a reality. The United Way of Greater Toronto supports more than a dozen agencies and service providers (external link) just down the street from campus. This partnership helps us work towards our vision of a more equitable, inclusive Toronto.
In the coming weeks, you'll hear more about the United Way campaign and I encourage you to get engaged.
The university has registered a TMU team to participate in the 2025 CN Tower ClimbUp (external link) . On November 16, our biggest team yet of students, faculty and staff will be conquering 1,776 steps in support of the United Way. I hope you'll consider donating to one of our nearly 30 climbers to support their hard work.
I'm also pleased to share that this year, we'll be having a President's luncheon in support of the United Way in December. More details to come.
As this year's campaign kicks off, I hope you'll get involved in supporting the United Way. Remember that even small actions can have a huge positive impact for our neighbours and our community.
I look forward to seeing you on campus in the coming weeks and seeing our community rally together to support United Way and our neighbours.
Mohamed Lachemi
President and Vice-Chancellor
