Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Tasos Chatzivasileiou, visited Brussels on June 22 and 23, 2026, where he held a series of consultations and meetings on current issues of European interest.
Mr. Chatzivasileiou had the opportunity to discuss with European officials the European Union's Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034, the competitiveness of the European economy, and the simplification of European legislation. At the same time, a key topic of discussion was Greece's preparations for assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2027.
More specifically, the Deputy Minister discussed with Greek Members of the European Parliament the parliamentary dimension of the Presidency. In addition, he met with European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin.
Furthermore, Mr. Chatzivasileiou met with the Director-General for General and Institutional Policy (GIP) of the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, Didier Seeuws, as well as with the Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council, Pedro Lourtie.
Finally, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held consultations with officials of the Permanent Representation of Greece to the European Union.
