WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Emmer announced Marta LaFond of Buffalo as the winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.
"The Congressional Art Competition is a great way to celebrate the visual arts and to recognize the artistic abilities of high school students across the country. I want to congratulate Marta on winning this year's Congressional Art Competition with her acrylic piece, As Kingfishers Catch Fire. We're excited to see her work displayed in the U.S. Capitol and welcome her to Washington, D.C.," Congressman Emmer said.
Marta is a junior at Holy Spirit Academy in Monticello, MN. Her acrylic piece, As Kingfishers Catch Fire, was selected as the winning submission from Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual competition for high school students across the United States. The winning pieces from each district will be hung by the Architect of the Capitol in the tunnel connecting the U.S. Capitol and the Cannon House Office Building for a year. The winner from each Congressional District receives the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with their Representative and see their artwork displayed in the Halls of Congress.
