Columbus Legislative Delegation Elects Officers for 2025-2026 Term, Minority Leader Carolyn Hugley Elected Chair

ATLANTA - House Minority Leader Carolyn Hugley (D-Columbus), along with members of the Columbus Legislative Delegation, met on Thursday, January 16, 2025, to elect its officers for the 2025-2026 term. Minority Leader Hugley was elected Chair of the delegation. State Representative Debbie Buckner (D-Junction City) was selected as Vice Chair and State Representative Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain) was chosen as Secretary.

"As a proud representative of my hometown, Columbus, I am deeply committed to advocating for the needs of my constituents in our community," said Minority Leader Hugley. "Serving the people of Columbus has always been my highest priority, and I am incredibly honored to serve in this capacity as chair of the legislative delegation. I want to thank my colleagues for trusting me in this role, and I congratulate Representative Buckner on her election as Vice Chair and Representative Smith on his election as Secretary. I look forward to working alongside them and all of our colleagues to ensure our voices are heard and our priorities are met."

The Columbus Legislative Delegation advocates for the city's interests in the Georgia General Assembly, with a focus on supporting initiatives that would enhance the quality of life for residents and the community.

Representative Carolyn Hugley represents the citizens of District 141, which includes a portion of Muscogee County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1993 and currently serves as the House Minority Leader. She also serves as Secretary of the Insurance Committee and as a member of the Appropriations, Banks & Banking, Ethics, Rules and Urban Affairs committees.
