Celebrate three days of live music at the Alexandria Waterfront as the ALX Jazz Fest expands for its 48th year as part of Sails on the Potomac. This year's festival happening Friday, June 12 through Sunday June 14, anchors Alexandria's participation in the nation's 250th commemoration, featuring a full weekend of performances that highlight the city's musical past, present, and future.
Admission to the festival is free.
Saturday's line-up features poetry interludes throughout the day, including a pre-headliner segment with Alexandria's Poet Laureate Cristi Donoso, and student poets from Alexandria City Public Schools. The evening ends with a fireworks display over the Potomac River.
Waterfront Park offers lawn seating; attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and picnic items. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Leashed pets are permitted.
Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or use public transportation. Take Metrorail (Yellow or Blue Line) to King Street Station, then use DASH, Metrobus, or the free King Street Trolley to reach the waterfront.
