2026 Bronson Children's Hospital Run & Walk Raises Over $200K for Local Children and Families

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Race day has officially concluded for the 2026 Bronson Children's Hospital Run & Walk, which took place on Sunday, Sept. 27. The annual event, which raises funds to support children and families at southwest Michigan's only children's hospital, welcomed more than 2,000 participants and raised $203,078.

Proceeds from the Run & Walk will help fund programs and services that make the hospital experience brighter and more comforting for patients and families, including child life services, art and music therapy, a NICU parent liaison, advanced medical technology, and enhancements designed especially for kids. From providing quality care to newborns to extending that care to youth up to age 18, Bronson Children's Hospital represents virtually every area of children's health, including neonatal and pediatric intensive care, pediatric hematology and oncology, pediatric neurology and neurosurgery, and much more. Bronson Children's Hospital also offers a robust Child Life Program, which offers support to children who may have fear or anxiety about visiting the hospital or having a procedure. Bronson's child life specialists support children and their families every step of the way, providing comfort and reducing worry.

"As a pediatrician at Bronson Children's Hospital, it is incredibly meaningful to see our community come together in support of the children and families we care for," said Megan Sikkema, DO, chief of pediatrics and pediatric hospitalist at Bronson Children's Hospital. "Events like this are a powerful reminder of how deeply our community is invested in giving kids the very best care possible. That support allows us to continue growing and elevating pediatric care at Bronson Children's Hospital, ensuring that every child has access to exceptional care when they need it most."

Participants this year included competitive runners, casual walkers, families with strollers and teams from Allegan, Battle Creek, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Paw Paw, South Haven and several surrounding counties, cities and townships. Attendees from other states, including Florida, Washington, Pennsylvania, Illinois and more also took part in the fun. From activities and games to face painting and giveaways, local residents and guests enjoyed an exciting day supporting a great cause. Finisher medals were provided to all walkers and runners. Awards were given to top runners and fundraisers across multiple age categories and team sizes, with the eldest runner being 88.

Bronson Health Foundation, the strategic partner of Bronson Healthcare Group, organized the event and was proud to welcome thousands of community members together to help make a lasting impact in the lives of local children and families who visit Bronson's Children's Hospital annually.

"Each year, it is incredibly moving to see our community come together in support of Bronson Children's Hospital," said James Corey, vice president and chief development officer at Bronson Health Foundation. "Seeing so many people show up, give back and stand behind our mission is a powerful reminder that they believe in this work just as deeply as we do."
