Amo Calls for Impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem

Washington, DC - TODAY, Congressman Gabe Amo (D-RI) issued the following statement calling for the impeachment of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem:

"Secretary Kristi Noem is not fit to lead. During her tenure, she has failed in her most basic duty: upholding the Constitution and the rule of law. She has willfully obstructed Congressional oversight, undermined public safety and due process, and abused her office for personal gain. These serious offenses demand accountability.

This moment is about whether public servants entrusted with power respect the rule of law, the Constitution, and the people they are sworn to serve. The killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis at the hands of an ICE agent is just the latest in a series of egregious actions within her department. Secretary Noem has made our communities less safe and sowed discord and distrust.

Americans deserve leadership that protects public safety, respects due process, and operates within the bounds of our Constitution. That's why I joined Representative Robin Kelly and 69 of our Democratic colleagues to introduce articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem. Because, no public official is above the law."
