Budrys met with Czech Foreign Minister Macinka in Luxembourg

On 21 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys met with the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Macinka on the sidelines of the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg. The Ministers discussed regional security and possibilities to increase pressure on Russia by imposing new sanctions.

Minister Budrys thanked the Czech Republic for running an initiative sourcing ammunition for Ukraine - Lithuania additionally allocated 33 million euros for it.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy emphasized that strengthening geoeconomic security at the EU level is a common interest of Lithuania and the Czech Republic.

"In the uncertain times we are living in now, geoeconomic security becomes a key condition of our resilience against any hostile pressure or external attempts to influence our strategic decisions," said Budrys.

The Ministers also discussed the importance of historical memory - Lithuania presented one of its main priorities during its Presidency of the Council of the EU. The Czech Republic, having a similar historical experience, agrees that it is especially important today to name and spread the message about the crimes against humanity committed by totalitarian regimes.
