Bristol, R.I. - Roger Williams University has appointed Engineering Professor William Palm as the new Associate Dean of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management (SECCM), effective Jan. 1, 2027.

Palm joined RWU in 2011 and serves as a Professor of Engineering, teaching a wide range of courses in RWU's Engineering programs and Honors Program. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed to academic initiatives, student learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the University.

He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and brings significant experience in academic leadership, externally funded initiatives, and cross-university collaboration. His work has included involvement with programs supported by the National Science Foundation, contributing to research and educational opportunities for students and faculty.

"Dr. Palm has been a valued member of our Engineering faculty for more than a decade, demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and academic excellence," said said B. Gökhan Çelik, Dean of the School of Engineering, Computing and Construction Management. "His leadership of the Honors Program has further demonstrated his ability to collaborate across the University and create meaningful opportunities for students. He brings a thoughtful and collaborative approach to leadership, along with a deep understanding of RWU and a strong commitment to SECCM. I look forward to working with him to strengthen our academic operations, support our faculty and students, and continue moving SECCM forward."

In addition to his faculty responsibilities, Palm has played a leadership role in RWU's Honors Program, serving as both Associate Director and Director for a combined seven years. During that time, he worked with colleagues across RWU's schools and administrative offices to expand enrollment, strengthen programming, and broaden curricular opportunities for students.

His experience working across academic disciplines and divisions has given him a broad understanding of RWU's academic priorities and the opportunities to strengthen connections among programs, faculty, and students.

"I look forward to serving the University and our students in this new role,"said Palm. " The School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management has great momentum and I am excited to work with Dean Çelik, the faculty, and staff to further enhance our academic programs and student experience."

As Associate Dean, Palm will help advance SECCM's academic mission and support the School's faculty, students, and programs. His appointment builds on more than a decade of service to RWU and a longstanding commitment to academic leadership and student success.
