CARSON CITY, Nev. - Governor Joe Lombardo has signed a proclamation designating June 2026 as Agricultural Heritage Month in Nevada, recognizing the generations of farmers, ranchers, producers, and agricultural workers whose contributions have helped shape the state of Nevada.
The proclamation comes as Nevada welcomes the return of the State Fair of Nevada, which will be held June 11-13 at the Nevada State Fairgrounds in Reno. After a 16-year hiatus, the State Fair is making its return after Governor Joe Lombardo signed Assembly Bill 333 into law last year, restoring the fairgrounds back to the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
"Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Nevada's economy and identity," said Governor Lombardo. "Agricultural Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the farmers, ranchers, and producers who work every day to feed our communities, support rural economies, and preserve a way of life that has defined Nevada for generations."
The proclamation highlights Nevada agriculture as a $6.5 billion industry and recognizes the enduring impact of the state's agricultural heritage, from the earliest settlers who cultivated the land to the producers who continue to feed communities and steward Nevada's natural resources today.
"The return of the State Fair of Nevada is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate the people, traditions, and industries that make Nevada unique," said J.J. Goicoechea, Director of the Nevada Department of Agriculture. "Agriculture is woven into the fabric of our state, and this month gives us a chance to honor our producers while helping a new generation better understand where their food comes from and the vital role agriculture plays in Nevada's future."
Governor Lombardo encourages all Nevadans to take part in Agricultural Heritage Month by supporting local producers, attending the State Fair, and learning more about the agricultural traditions that continue to strengthen communities across the state.
