UWF reaccredited through 2035

The University of West Florida has received reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, master's, educational specialist and doctoral degrees, as well as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. This accreditation is good through 2035.

"We are dedicated to ensuring that a UWF education meets the highest standards of quality," said Manny Diaz Jr., interim president. "When people hire a UWF graduate, they'll know they're getting someone equipped with the skills and knowledge to make an impact. This reaffirmation validates the strength of the education that stands behind them."

SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. It serves as the common denominator of shared values and practices among the diverse institutions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Latin America and other international sites approved by the Commission on Colleges that award associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees.

Accreditation by SACSCOC signifies that the institution (1) has a mission appropriate to higher education; (2) has resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission; and (3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.

"Maintaining our accreditation ensures that every student can trust the quality and integrity of a UWF education," said Dr. Jaromy Kuhl, provost. "It reflects years of dedicated work by our faculty and staff and reinforces our mission to provide meaningful learning experiences that prepare students to thrive in their careers and communities."

UWF was originally accredited in 1969 and received its most recent reaffirmation of accreditation in 2015.
