From Mount international student to university innovator, alumna, Director of Intelligent Data Solutions and Innovations, and adjunct Computer Science faculty member Olena Holub continues to advance artificial intelligence through research, collaboration, and education. Olena Holub recently represented Mount St. Joseph University on an international stage by presenting her research at the 24th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIME 2026), held July 7-10 at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada.
The international conference brought together researchers, clinicians, and technology professionals to explore emerging AI methods and their responsible applications in medicine and healthcare.
Olena presented her research, A PRISMA-Aligned Workflow for LLM-Assisted Title-Abstract Screening: A Methodological Case Study in Atrial Fibrillation Literature, which examines how large language models (LLMs) can support the screening of research articles while maintaining human oversight, transparency, and reproducibility. The workflow aims to reduce the time required to review large volumes of scientific literature while preserving the quality and rigor of systematic reviews.
The paper was published in Springer's AIME 2026 Conference Proceedings, highlighting Olena Holub's contributions to the evolving field of artificial intelligence in healthcare research. Click here to access the published paper.
In her roles at the Mount, Olena advances data-driven innovation while helping prepare students in the Computer Science program to apply emerging technologies ethically and effectively. Her work reflects the University's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and using AI to serve the common good.
A proud Mount alumna, Olena graduated in 2025 with a double major in Computer Science and Financial Economics. Her continued research and professional achievements showcase the impact of Mount graduates in advancing technology and creating meaningful solutions to today's challenges.
