On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis met with representatives of the Panhellenic Union of the Pharmaceutical Industry Dimitris Demos, Vice President, and Athanasios Kotsiaros, General Manager.
During the meeting, they discussed extensively matters concerning the reduction and rationalisation of the pharmaceutical expenditure of Military Hospitals and the significant progress made concerning the repayment of arrears during the past two months, thus reducing these by 50%.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister was briefed on the progress of the Hellenic Pharmaceutical Industry, the developments in Research, and its growth prospects in Greece.
After the meeting, Mr. Davakis stated the following:
Our main priority is the further improvement and rationalisation of the operation of Military Hospitals, focusing on providing better healthcare services to our personnel.
Within this framework, during the past two months we have made an effort to save funds for the Military Hospitals in order to reduce the pharmaceutical expenditure, as well as settle arrears.
This second meeting with the representatives of the Panhellenic Union of the Pharmaceutical Industry confirmed the progress made and provided an opportunity to discuss further actions in the same direction."
