Officers to Remove Abandoned Vehicles from Major Roadways Friday in Anticipation of Winter Storm

With a major snow event predicted this weekend for Nashville, Traffic Division officers on Friday will be checking highways and major surface streets for removal of any abandoned vehicles so that they do not impede snowplow and salt truck operations.

Officers encourage Nashvillians to closely watch weather developments, and once freezing precipitation starts, limit travel to only that which is absolutely necessary. Those who must travel are urged to pack an emergency kit with blankets, food and water.
Neighborhood streets and secondary roads are expected to remain dangerously slick and hazardous well after the snow and freezing rain stop falling. While four-wheel and all-wheel drive assist in getting a vehicle moving in snowy conditions, they do not provide extra stopping ability on slick roads. Motorists who must travel should drive slowly, use extreme caution, and allow greater distance between other vehicles.
