Meet Maddie, a resilient 5-year-old Bully mix with a heartwarming story. Once used for breeding and then abandoned, Maddie was brought to the PAC by a rescuer. Maddie is great with dogs her size and kids and despite her tough journey, she remains full of love and affection. During an interaction with an infant and a 5-year-old, Maddie was very calm and interested in the kids, allowing the girl to pet and hug her. She is mild-mannered, very calm, treat-motivated and loves to give hugs and kisses. Maddie is mostly potty-trained and would do well in a home with kids. While she seems unsure of cats, she backs away when hissed or swatted at, indicating she might do well with a confident cat.
Diagnosed with heartworms, this sweet and loving dog is currently receiving treatment and searching for a caring foster home. Her ongoing medical treatment is covered by the PAC and Maddie will be available for adoption once treatment is complete. Due to her heartworm condition, Maddie should be kept separated from other dogs until she fully recovers. (Canine heartworms are curable with proper treatment and do not pose a risk to humans or cats).
