Rep. Floyd Griffin Issues Statement on Passing of Former Milledgeville Mayor John E. Grant, Jr.

ATLANTA - State Representative Floyd Griffin (D-Milledgeville) today issued the following statement on the recent passing of former Milledgeville Mayor John E. Grant, Jr.:

"It is with deep sadness that I acknowledge the passing of John E. Grant, Jr., a former mayor of Milledgeville and a respected civic and business leader whose service to our community spanned decades.

"John Grant devoted his life to strengthening Milledgeville through principled public service and through the steady leadership of his family business, J.C. Grant Company, which has long stood as one of the most trusted institutions in our hometown.

His leadership, integrity and commitment to Milledgeville left a lasting mark on our community.

"On behalf of my family and the citizens of House District 149, I extend sincere condolences to the Grant family. We join in praying for peace, strength and comfort for all who mourn his passing."

Representative Floyd Griffin represents the citizens of District 149, which includes portions of Baldwin, Bibb and Jones counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Special Rules and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
